Session information

- Title:
- Family Carers
- Description:
-
This session has been retired, and the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training has not yet been released. The e-learning element of the 2-part training is expected soon and will be available here on elfh when it is ready. The T1 Learning Disability Awareness training has been removed in the meantime to prevent any confusion.
People with a learning disability, including autistic people with learning disability, may need extra support with some aspects of living. Family carers are people who provide such support to a relative who has a learning disability. They are usually not paid anything to do this. Because all families are different, different family members may take on this role at different times. This includes parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. It may also include close family friends and younger people in the family. Many brothers and sisters take on carer roles in childhood, adolescence and adulthood. - Hierarchy:
