- Description:
- In this session we will discuss the different groups of psychotropic medications commonly prescribed for people with a learning disability and autistic people. These groups include antidepressants, antipsychotics, anxiolytics, mood stabilisers and hypnotics. We will present an overview of the uses and side-effects of these medications. We will also consider the initiation, monitoring and review of these medications in clinical practice. This session is aimed at a specialist audience, primarily psychiatrists, psychologists, general practitioners, pharmacists, and mental health and learning disability nurses. Others may also benefit from this session and may wish first to access the session Psychotropic Medication 1.
